About Legacies
What is Legacies?
Legacies is a highly integrated, large-scale custom modpack, designed to recapture the best aspects of Minecraft in a uniquely modded environment. With several hundreds of hours of dev time, a multitude of custom projects and features and over a year of development, Legacies is designed to be the very best experience possible, upholding the vanilla style and design, but with a clear goal of reimagining it in a new light.
Legacies is evocative of the same things that make Minecraft great, and doesn't try to bury them under countless unnecessary features and clutter - but it's not afraid to add plenty of new content and overhaul existing features, either.

What makes Legacies truly unique is the focus on extensive custom features and integration, making a uniquely coherent experience, which feels like everything was designed to fit together, even in a relatively "large" game. The scope of this custom content and integration is akin to the many other great, custom packs, whether they're focused around a certain mod or experience. The difference this time, is that all that investment is focused on what aims to be a truly authentic, Minecraft-like style, giving you a recognisable feel and consistency to the base game amidst vastly expanded content, features and more. It's the ultimate way to re-experience Minecraft, either as a fan of the vanilla style or someone more into highly-custom modpacks - it's difficult to put to words, but I guarantee you will get an enjoyable experience like no other.
What these countless hours and custom resources equate to in-game is difficult to highlight in a (relatively) short description, and there are too many important things that make Legacies great to list, you'll just have to find out for yourself. I've listed a bunch of key features in a somewhat detailed drop-points below for the sake of readability - just click the tag below to view them.
Key Features (click to expand)
-
completely expanded gameplay progression. Your exploration throughout the world remains familiar, from stone, to iron, to diamond. From the overworld, to the nether, to the end. The difference this time is that this overarching progression has been thoroughly reworked and fleshed out, with a custom reworked progression system, expanding on not only non-linear variety but also the way in which you progress, spreading out the mid-game and expanding on the end-game without adding in dozens of unnecessary features. Even the journey to the End has been massively expanded and overhauled. Find out more about progression here
-
upgraded Overworld. Featuring plentiful (and fitting) new biomes, custom-upgraded terrain generation, and Mojang-style reworks for old biomes. Unlike other modpacks, there's no generic "throw-in all the biomes here" approach, instead, carefully selected mods have been custom-integrated with each other to create a unique and cohesive expansion to the existing overworld, and vanilla biomes remain more common than their modded counterparts, without the latter being too hard to find. Don't worry, block clutter has been avoided too, with every new tree, block and biome fitting in perfectly to the overall experience. Find out more about biomes here
-
music, melody and atmosphere. An expanded and updated vanilla-style soundtrack. New ambient sounds, updated block noises. Forgotten Minecraft Live mobs back from the vote! Between an expanded soundtrack, new ambience, and pre-configured visuals, get an incredible experience from the moment you click play.
-
integrated multiplayer, controller support and VR. That's right, Open to LAN has been replaced by Start Multiplayer, which generates a temporary IP for your friends to join from anywhere! Legacies also supports controller inputs and has build-in ViveCraft/VR support.
-
upgraded Nether. The Nether remains familiar, however it has had a couple new structures and biomes. These 2 biomes and new structure fit perfectly with 1.16's Nether Update, adding some additional rare variety to the nether. In addition, the Nether has had its roof extended to 192 blocks, preserving the same cavernous feel but adding additional terrain variety and opportunity for exploration
-
reworked enchanting. Enchanting and repairing has been completely reworked, keeping the same familiar enchants, interface and items, but with enchanted books, enchantment tables and anvils all being reworked while keeping the same ideas as their original roles. This reworked system goes hand-in-hand with the new gear and overarching game progression systems. I'm not going to explain what exactly here - there's a wiki page for that, and it's pretty consise, so read that! Find out more about enchanting and repairing here
-
reimagined End. The End is sorely in need of an update - I think few would disagree with that. Even those that would will be plesantly surprised as they see this overhauled End, kept desolate - as it should be - but with reimagined generation and new mechanics in the same feel as the original, in addition to a thoughtfully expanded dragonfight and endgame, that still feels like it could be fitting for vanilla
-
structures, systems and features. Simply too many to list! Mod-integrated villager trades. Plenty of new, fitting structures. Collectible books and music discs. Lightweight season system. Fishing update. Biomes are larger. Higher build limit. Updated vanilla structures. Balanced structure and feature generation, so as to avoid clutter. Dozens, if not hundreds of random integrated features. You get the point. Hopefully
System Requirements and Setting Up
For more information, check out the Setup wiki page
Legacies requires at least 4gb allocated RAM, but 8 is recommended. In addition, if you don't have a good discrete GPU you may want to disable shaders, or try the "Performance" version which keeps the visuals similar to vanilla, but with better visual consistency with the pack, including the Aurora Borealis and coloured lighting.
Outside of those small RAM requirements, Legacies will run with almost any computer - just be sure to disable shaders and lower render distance if you're on an old/less powerful one. A modern computer should run Legacies great from the get-go.
The pack is incredibly optimised for modded MC, not being too much more demanding than vanilla, with one exception - world generation. Due to technical limitations, world generation is noticeable slower and more demanding. As such, if you're using a server, you should pre-generate your world using the included Chunky mod.
A server should have at least 5GB RAM. If you need a server, you should check out Kinetic Hosting!
Once again, it's difficult to sell someone on what makes this pack great, and prove that it's not the same as the other packs that may appear similar at first glance. Legacies is truly the modpack for people who like Minecraft, and I can say nothing more than this...
Play Legacies and see it for yourself. You won't regret experiencing this uniquely crafted Minecraft journey you're about to embark on.
That's it! I really hope that at this point you'll give this experience a try. It's really difficult to explain the beautifully unmatched syngergy of this pack, thanks to the countless work, systems and custom content behind it, but I guarantee that if you do give it an install, and give the pack a shot, you won't regret it, and when you get to see for yourself how it all comes together, you will absolutely enjoy it. Legacies is truly unmatched for what it is, and once you experience it yourself, you'll understand.
Let the adventure begin, and enjoy the pack!

Related Projects
These mods listed here consist of my largest mod projects, and were all explicitly designed as important parts of Legacies. If you like any of them, you'll like Legacies even more, and if you haven't heard of them, then there's yet another exciting reason to try out the pack.
Enjoy the adventure!
Legacies and Legends - a complete atmosphere and world overhaul, from structures, to lore and collectibles, to the soundtrack and music.
Progression Reborn - thoughtfully overhauling vanilla's progression system.
End Reborn - an additive, lightweight late-game End expansion.
Kinetic Server Hosting
While Legacies has free global multiplayer, you may be looking for a more optimised, long-term way to play with your friends. For this purpose, I recommend you take a look at Kinetic Hosting!. In case you're wondering the recommended server specs, that would be just 5gb RAM, which equates to under $13USD a month for Performance, or $6 for Budget, not including my discount code! I personally use their performance servers, and their specs, price, support and easy-to-use panel are the best of all the hosts I've been with.
In addition, you can use code LEGACY for 15% off your first month!
More Info
Yes, I am partnered with them (and a member of their feedback team), but as an already-existing customer of them (and have paid and still pay for their servers myself), I can legitimately say they're great, regardless of whether I'm partnered with them. They're just genuinely good, I know the support team, they're super friendly and quick. The server specs are as good as you can get, and importantly, they aren't overpriced, unlike other hosts - in fact, they're less than half the price of quite a few big competitors I've seen around here, with no downside! If you need a server, these guys truly know what you're doing, and will respect your wallet when they do it. If you buy a server through my link, you even help support my work!
