Astral Arsenal is a combat focused mod that looks to improve vanilla combat with movement, and more interesting weapon choices. This includes the new kosmogliph system.

Additions

Weapons

Astral Arsenal currently adds three new weapons, The greathammer and the railgun.

The astral greathammer works as a sword with the damage and cooldown of an axe.

The railgun on its own does nothing, but gains functionality when given a kosmogliph.

The nailcannon builds its own ammo and has a cap of 100. It fires a constant stream of these nails when held. nails deal small ammounts of damage and add 1 level of conductive to entities hit. The nailcannon has two modes, it switches to a rapid fire mode, which shoots double the nails per second at double the spread and half the range, after a short while. The non-rapidfire mode can be prolonged if you sneak.

Kosmogliphs

Kosmogliphs are a new mechanic added that act like enchantments. Kosmogliphs are gained from the Cosmic table, and cost 1 kosmic gem each. Kosmogliphs can be changed for free at any time so long as you have a cosmic table.

Kosmogliphs can be sorted into 3 different categories, Offensive, Defencive and Tool.

Tool kosmogliphs

  • Hammer: Allows you to mine 3x3 areas.
  • Vein miner: Allows you to mine full veins of ores. Pickaxe exclusive.
  • Smelter: Automatically smelts the item mined and mob drops. This drops no xp. available on the sword and bow aswell.
  • Reaper: Allows you to mine a 3x3x3 volume of fully grown crops, and lets you till the same area. Hoe exclusive.

Defensive kosmogliphs

  • Slam: Crouching midair allows you to slam downward, jumping just after slamming lets you jump higher. slamming negates fall damage. Helmet exclusive.
  • Protections, Chestplate exclusive.
    • Endurance: Reduces damage from melee sources
    • Reflective: Reduces damage from projectiles, chance to reflect every projectile.
    • Scorch Proof: Reduces damage from hot sources, Fire doesn't cling to you.
    • Thermal: Reduces damage from frost sources, You can no longer be frozen or affected by slowness.
    • Heavy: Reduces damage from explosions
    • Capacitance: Reduces damage from electric sources and stores damage as charge. When hit, discharge a portion of the damage to the attacker.
    • Antidote: Reduces damage from magic, Negative effects tick down twice as fast, positive effects tick down half as fast.
  • Dash: Pressing R[rebindable] lets you dash forward, recharges over 1 second, hold up to 3 charges. also lets you dash on mounts. Leggings exclusive.
  • Dodge: Pressing R[rebindable] lets you dash in the direction you are moving, recharges over 1 second, holds up to 3 charges. Leggings exclusive.
  • Jump: Jumping midair gives you an extra boost. Recharges over 1 second, holds up to 3 charges. Charges don't recharge until you land. Boots exclusive.
  • Step Up: Lets you step up 1.5 blocks. Boots exclusive.
  • Ankle Guard: Prevents going below 1hp from fall damage. Helmet exclusive
  • Parry: If timed well, raising your shield parries projectiles and attacks, dealing damage back to the attacker. Shield exclusive.
  • Frost Thorns: When the shield is hit, launch a set of ice bolts. Shield exclusive

Offensive

There are a lot of offencive kosmogliphs, so I will be separating them here between the weapons

Melee weapons

  • Astral strike: Every eighth hit causes a strike to hit the target.
  • Astral slash: Right clicking charges up an astral blade that deals 6 magic damage on players and 15 damage on non-players on a 10 second cooldown. Sword exclusive.
  • Cannonball: Right clicking summons a cannonball that doesn't go far. Hitting the cannonball launches it. 8 second cooldown, greathammer exclusive.
  • Mortar: Right clicking summons an explosive mortar that doesn't go far. Hitting the mortar launches it. 8 second cooldown, greathammer exclusive.
  • Flame Burst: Attacking sets the target on fire. Non-player entities also send a burst of fire.
  • Freeze: Attacking freezes the target. Non-player entities also send a burst of ice.
  • Deep wounds: Holding right click charges a poison blade that reduces hit entities max hp by half their missing health, while granting you the lost hp as absorption. Killing an entity grants you some of it's hp as absorption. right click action is on a 60 second cooldown.

Railgun kosmogliphs

  • Basic railgun: Launch a shot that deals 10 electric damage. Deals, and reduces max hp of the user by 5 for 20 seconds. 15 second cooldown. deals 3x damage to non-players
  • Snipe: Launch a shot that deals 7.5 electric damage, get a 5 second window to fire a second shot. If fired or time ends, go on cooldown. First shot takes 5hp and reduces your max hp by 5 for 20 seconds, 15 second cooldown.
  • Explosive: Fire an explosive shot that deals 15 damage. 30 second cooldown. deals 2x damage to non-players
  • Ray of frost: Fire an icy shot that deals 7.5 ice damage and freezes entities. 30 second cooldown.
  • Rancid brew: Fire a magical shot that deals 8 magic damage. Gives both the attacker and target several debuffs. 30 second cooldown.
  • Flamethrower: Holding right click fires a constant stream of fire.
  • Ricochet: Fire a bouncing railgun beam that deals 1 damage per hit. bounces 20 times. 20 second cooldown.

Trident kosmogliphs

  • Reduce: Hitting an entity with a ranged attack adds 6 levels of reduce to them. Hitting with a melee attack adds 1 level. both for 20 seconds.
  • Bleed: Hitting an entity with a ranged attack adds 5 levels of bleed to them. Hitting an entity with a melee attack adds 1 level. both for 20 seconds.
  • Astral rain: Stores up to 3 riptides, recharges when in water. Only works with riptide.

Mace kosmogliphs

  • Pulveriser: Hold right click to slowly charge a leap. Once let go, launch in the direction you are facing. When hitting the ground, cause a smash attack that increases in damage for how long its held and increases in size the further you fall. 10 second cooldown.
  • Wind eruption: Hold right click to quickly charge a burst. Once let go, explode, dealing more damage and launching you further depending on how long it was charged. 5 second cooldown.

Crossbow and bow kosmogliphs

  • Alchemist: Allows you to put potions into the bow. Arrows fired out when there is a potion in the bow tips the arrow. Each potion lets you tip 4 arrows. Bow exclusive.
  • Cannonball launcher: Fires a cannonball instead of an arrow on a cooldown. crossbow exclusive
  • Shotgun: Shoots 5 of the projectile in random directions. Crossbow exclusive.
  • Strikes: Replaces the arrow with one of 4 strikes, each with varying stats, on a cooldown. Crossbow exclusive.

Nailcannon kosmogliphs

  • Capacity: doubles the capacity and reduces how long it takes for each nail to recharge.
  • Overheat: When in rapid fire mode, nails are set ablaze, half nail damage and half fire damage and setting hit entities ablaze
  • Static release: An extra charged nail is shot every second, dealing 1 electric damage.

Effects

Reduce: Increases damage taken by 5%. Increases by 5% every level.

Bleed: Causes the entity to take 0.4 damage per level per second.

Conductive: takes 1% extra plasma damage per level and arcs lightning to nearby entities proportional to level. Arch lightning deals 50% of the damage dealt to the first mob. Removes all levels when this triggers.

Balances

Astral Arsenal makes a few changes to vanilla in order to make it more balanced for PVP. Here is a list.

  • Protection, blast protection, fire protection and projectile protection are removed
  • Feather falling grants a 20% damage reduction per level to max at 80%, this is because protection would also give it more damage reduction.
  • Crimson time - A new mechanic that gives 3 ticks after an entity leaves the crosshair to hit the entity. This is inspired by the same mechanic in enchancement.
  • the 5 tick delay between holding up a shield and being able to block damage has been removed.
