Due to recent PC troubles, I have lost most of the develpment files for this modpack (and a few other of my projects) and unfortunately don't have the spare time to ground-up everything to keep updating. Regardless I still enjoyed this fun little project, even if it was mostly just for personal use. Might return to this someday, or take on a less cross-compatability-heavy project (most likely the ladder). Until then, friends!

A Minecraft-styled "VanillAdjacent"

A Unique Flavor of Vanilla+

Through the years, Minecraft has gone through many updates - some good, some less - through all of it, however, many feel as if the primary focus of what originally made the game enjoyable has been lost.

Everything must have a very specific use-case.
Everything must be compatible with specific devices, even to the detriment of an update.
Everything must be "safe" and easily pushed out on a schedule.

This modpack aims to change that, by taking on the current state of vanilla Minecraft and recontextualizing it under the umbrella of which I believe the early days of Minecraft fit underneath.
Exploration, Creativity, and above all else, Freedom.

The only mods that will be in this pack will fall exclusively under this philosophy, fitting the style and aesthetic of classic vanilla, tweaked and adjusted where needed. Each update will focus on a main "theme" of which will fit with every playstyle, rather than bloated with smaller somethings to better accommodate every "niche."

This is not to say the aim is a modern beta aesthetic - far from it - but rather what I feel modern Minecraft would look like if kept a consistent angle on how updates should be done. It's still vanilla, but simply .. well, adjacent!

Below serves as both a modlist, and themed "changelog" of sorts, explaining the goal of each major update and notable mod inclusions!

A Familiar Adventure | 1.0

A Minecraft-styled "VanillAdjacent" update title, reading "A Familiar Adventure"

An update focused on vanilla overhaul first and foremost, with only specific content additions.

A Showcase of the Minecraft mod Biomes o' Plenty and Serene Seasons

The world of Minecraft now boasts a plentiful amount of biomes, alongside serene seasons to make the world feel diverse in location and awe-inspiring scale. Underground, caves have been given a truly unique overhaul, merging the best of both pre and post 1.18 cave generation - and more!

To brave this new world, remember to bring your compass, clock, and calendar - and no spelunker is truly ready without their trusty rope! While you're down there, why not invest in a mineshaft? Minecarts are now buffed in speed and have the ability to load chunks, and can be linked together; send your haul to the surface without hassle - and don't forget a sawmill for all those fences!

An Enchanting Table within a Mystic Grove

Enchantments now no longer require bookshelves, but rather just books! The enchantment system has been entirely overhauled, now requiring a player to learn enchantments from books and then gather the necessary materials for the enchantment. Now before you grab a boat and head to the nearest librarian - structures are now slightly rarer, meaning you have to earn it! Don't forget to disenchant any loot you find into books as well!

Once you do find that village, don't fret! Villager transportation is now much more engaging; gather your emerald-loving friends and bring them back to your home town! Their trades will cycle daily and when depleted, so try to treat them nicely.

A stable of cows, showcasing the mod More Mob Variants

Mobs have also been given a fresh coat of variating paint! Additionally, their spawning has been tweaked to better flesh out the world; no more vast fields of nothing after killing a few pigs for food!

Speaking of food, the hunger system has also been tweaked, and is now exclusively for regeneration, meaning that you can sprint even while starving! Weapons too have been restored to a familiar feeling state, now returning to pre-1.9 combat - fighting never felt so responsive! Why not show off your gear with the newly posable armor stands and dyeable item frames?

Copper, Proper! | 2.0

A Minecraft-styled "VanillAdjacent" update title, reading "Copper, Proper!"

An update focused on vanilla-friendly technology, giving copper proper merit and usage as an optional aspect for multiple areas of gameplay.

A showcase of copper blocks oxidizing underwater, and Additional Addition's patina

As time marches forward, so does Minecraft's copper! But what if you want those oxidated stages faster? Worry not! As of 2.0, all copper-related blocks oxidize at a faster rate within water and rain! Additionally, reverting stages with an axe will net you some patina - a copper-based redstone dust equivilent that also lets you manually add a level of oxidation to copper blocks!

Now, what would all this copper be without some uses? Copper can now be used to create pipes and fittings, allowing greater amount of item travel - and of course we couldn't have that without an item-filtering copper hopper! Automatic storage and organization has never been easier!

A player-made lighthouse, showcasing some of the new decorative 1.21 blocks

Not much of a pipe-type? No worries! All 1.21 related blocks have been added, without the bloat of trial chambers! Decorate to your heart's content with a new selection of tuff and copper decor; just be sure to use a stonecutter for better returns!

With the addition of 1.21 blocks, 2.0 also reverts the ""fixes"" done in 23w46a, which means one-tick delay copper bulbs and crafters are back on the menu! Give them a try!
