InventorySense Fork

Consistent - Bedrock-ish - Intuitive

InventorySense Fork is a revival for the popular InventorySense UI resource pack by Moxwel, but now for 1.20+ Minecraft!

This simple GUI resource pack is an attempt to make inventory slots both more intuitive to use and more consistent with the cointainers they belong to. It also takes inspiration from Minecraft Bedrock, mixing the plain colours used for buttons and the green hover appearance with the classic Minecraft Java styles.

Note: this fork of InventorySense UI was made by an amateur with very basic Minecraft resource pack making skills. It will greatly help to the improvement of the project to report any issues at the GitHub repository.

Features

Most of the following content has been paraphrased from Moxwel's original InventorySense UI webpage.

- Hotbar & Inventory

Comparison between InventorySense Fork and Vanilla's hotbars

The hotbar inventory slots now have numbers on them! This will be useful for those who change the hotbar with the keyboard. And in line with the consistency goals, the appearance of the hotbar is permanent through all inventories and containers. For the off-hand slot this is also true, as it will keep the same slot appearance in both survival and creative inventories. The rest of your inventory slots will be transparent.Comparison between InventorySense Fork survival inventory and the Minecraft Vanilla one

Finally, armour slots have a solid black background, as it is the same colour for your player model preview.

- Block containers

Crafting tables, anvils, furnaces and more now have their own unique textures for their containers. If you use a Custom Item Texture (CIT) mod like OptiFine or CIT Resewn chests, ender chests, dispensers and droppers will also have unique textures on them :)

By norm, the slot of the resulting item in crafting containers will always be the larger one.

Additionally, in the hopper container texture there is an arrow that indicates the order in which it will interact with the items inside.

- Recipe book & text inputs

The recipe book now has a dominant green colour to match the icon of the book. The search bar for the book is also now strongly defined with a solid black rectangle. This also happens with other containers that have text inputs: if it's for searching, it will have a magnifying glass next to it, if it's not (like anvils), it will just keep its black colour.

- Trading UI

Now the trades that villagers offer are enclosed in a chat bubble, meaning that they are talking! The experience bar for villagers was also improved.

- Crosshair

It is now smaller :D! And the middle pixel was also removed.

- Advancements

The advancement tree, toasts and badges are given a new look inspired by Bedrock's achievements.

- Changed chests container textures

In vanilla Minecraft, chests and ender chests share a single texture file called 'generic_54', this makes it so that all chest-related containers share the same texture. In Moxwel's InventorySense UI the problem with this is evident: ender chests end up having the same wooden background as regular chests, which clearly does not fit. As such, in Inventory Sense Fork it has been decided to make generic_54 a truly generic texture, making the inventory slots of chests, ender chests and other storage containers transparent.

If you are running a Minecraft instance with the OptiFine mod installed, however, you will be able to enjoy the wooden background of regular chests, and the special background of ender chests.

- New titles for game menus

The death screen, the hardcore death screen, and the pause menu screen now have custom textured titles inspired by Bedrock's screens!
