Updated to Minecraft 1.21.5
Datapack now works on the latest version of Minecraft

Rewrote zombie modifier system
Zombie modifiers (Enraged, Energized, Armored, Weaponed) are no longer exclusive to Nightmare difficulty
The chances of zombies spawning with modifiers increases with the difficulty
Removed the custom name colors/teams for modified zombies Changed Enraged Zombies to Bulky Zombies (larger and more hp)
Added Baby Zombie modifier (Baby Zombie and less HP)

Added difficulty-based stats and modifiers to Water Zombies
Water Zombies now spawn with modifiers and changed stats depending on the pack difficulty

Added Gear-preservation to Water Zombie conversion
When regular zombies fall into water and drown, now the gear they are wearing/holding will be transferred to their water zombie counterpart

Added trident-holding water zombies
Water Zombies, if spawned in ocean ruins, can spawn holding tridents

Added Water Miner and Water Builder
Two new water zombies
Like their land-based counterparts, these zombies can build and mine
However, the Water Miner will place ice instead of dirt and will only build above water

Added Water Zombie and Water Spitter summon functions
The Water Zombie and Water Spitter can now be spawned by operators with the /function: summon<mob_name> commands
Commands have also been added for the new Water Miner and Water Builder

Added more variants to zombie animals
Zombified variants of the Warm/Cold Pigs, Chickens, and Cows will now spawn
Zombified Sheep can also spawn with any naturally-occurring color of wool

Changed Zombie Names
Removed Skull Emoji from prefix and suffix of zombie names

Removed Illager Skirmishes
The Illager Skirmishes that would spawn occasionally during the day have been removed
They were a really cool feature, and will most likely be made into a separate datapack in the future

Removed raw food consumption penalty
There is now no additional punishment to players for consuming raw food
If you still want this feature, there are many other datapacks that add raw food consumption penalties

Fixed Weaponed Zombies always dropping weapons
The drop chance for the mainhands of Weaponed Zombies was set to 100% instead of 10%

Fixed broken Modern Guns zombie drops
The Modern Guns zombie drops didn't drop any Modern Guns ammo

Fixed Water Zombies slowing down in kelp
Water zombies would have their swim speed cut when they swam through kelp

Added extra zombie spawning mechanic

On hard difficulty and above, additional zombies will spawn whenever one zombie spawns One extra zombie will spawn on hard and two will spawn on nightmare

Increased chance for Weaponed and Armored zombies to drop their gear

Now, zombies with the Weaponed or Armored modification will have a 10% chance to drop their gear

Fixed Zombie Abilities and Attributes not working

Due to a mistake in the code, zombies would only have proper abilities and special effects when within 256 blocks from (0,0,0)

Fixed Acid Spitter and Acid Spewer not dropping loot upon death

The Acid Spitter and Acid Spewer zombies would not drop any items upon dying

Fixed Builders and Miners still mining when near creative mode players

Even if a player was in a non-targetable gamemode, they could still be mined/builded towards

Fixed zombies spawning with incorrect stats

Occasionally, on Nightmare mode zombies would spawn with incorrect stats

Added place sound to Builder Zombie actions

When the Builder Zombie places down blocks, it will now also play a dirt placing sound

Added summon functions

Operators can now manually spawn in specific zombie variants with the following command:

/function summon:<ZOMBIE_NAME>

Improved Builder Zombie AI

The Builder Zombie places blocks more intelligently than before

The Builder Zombie will also no longer place 8 blocks at a time when on the same y level as the target

Builder Zombies also can now place blocks over plants, carpet, and other similar blocks

These changes make Builder Zombies more threatening than before

Fixed Shooter Zombies shooting at Creative mode players bug

The Shooter Zombies will no longer shoot at players in Creative mode or Spectator mode

Builders and Miners will now also ignore players in Creative mode or Spectator mode

Undid performance changes from V1.16.4

They broke the features they were supposed to optimize (oops)

Performance gain, even with the features effectively removed, was negligible

Updated to Minecraft 1.21.4

Fixed shooter zombies not dealing damage

The shooter zombie wouldn't deal damage with their projectiles

Fixed Skirmisher Pillager Captains not dropping Ominous Bottles

The Pillager Captain spawned in the Pillager Skirmishes wouldn't drop an Ominous Bottle

Optimized datapack

Implemented two new optimization techniques The first is code improvement regarding zombie animals (Thanks Stoupy!) and should result in improved performance on servers

The next changes the zombie fire mechanic and water zombie movement speed mechanic to only check once every 2 seconds, instead of 20 times a second

Added Carrots, Potatoes, and Iron Ingots as possible zombie drops

Just like in vanilla zombies can now drop these items from time-to-time

Added Block Deterioration mechanic

Whenever an acid spitter or acid spewer hit a block with their acid, it may deteriorate the block

Certain zombie-resistant blocks will be changed to zombie-breakable counterparts

This change only takes effect on Nightmare Difficulty

Changed Nightmare Difficulty zombie modifiers

In addition to Enraged, zombies can also spawn as Energized, Armored, or Weaponed

Energized zombies are faster, Armored wear armor, and Weaponed hold a tool

(As a reminder, Enraged zombies have increased attack damage and slightly increased armor)

Changed Nightmare Difficulty extra zombie spawning

Now will occur roughly 72% of the time now

The other 28% are split across the 4 zombie modifiers

Extra spawned zombies cannot have modifiers

It was possible 1 zombie spawn to spawn hundreds of zombies, this possibility has been removed

Changed Nightmare Difficulty zombie HP

HP has been reduced from 30 -> 25

Miner Zombies can now break Deepslate and Cobbled Deepslate

This was done in order to nerf the accessibility of strong bases early-on

Fixed GBG Turrets spawning zombie pigs when placed at feet bug

Whenever a Turret from GBG was placed on the block a player was standing on, there was a chance it would spawn a zombie pig instead

Fixed 50 HP zombie bug

On nightmare mode, or in instances where multiple zombies spawned on the same block, all but one would have 50 HP

Updated GBG+GBZ Detection scoreboards

Cleaner; GBZ V1.16.1 will only work with GBG V1.23 and above

Changed Zombie Villager head item from leather cap to stone button

Zombie Villagers still won't burn in daylight, but they don't have the visible helmet

Added loot tables for when players play with Pipe Guns or Modern Guns

Now, instead of only dropping GBG ammo, zombies will change their loot tables to drop Pipe Ammo or Tier1-Tier2 Modern Ammo

Added difficulty system

The pack has been reworked to now have a difficulty system There are four difficulty options, easy, normal, hard, and nightmare The main diference between the difficulties is the zombie's stat changes, but Nightmare has other additional challanges These difficulties are not finished and will be further fleshed-out in future updated

Added DJ Zombie varient

Added another varient for the DJ Zombie

Added Config options for Swarm Zombies, DJ Zombies, Zombie Villagers, and Illager Skirmishes

The player can now control these mobs' abilities to spawn

Fixed fire replacing blocks bug

Fire spread by zombies was able to replace a lot of different partial blocks, including paths and lava

Fixed GBG zombies not spawning properly

The GBG zombies wouldn't spawn at all

Fixed Disabling Zombie Types decreasing amount of zombies

If a player disabled any number of zombie types, it would decrease the total number of zombies that would spawn at night

Fixed zombie projectiles not dealing damage bug

If the player was hit by a zombie projectile when they where in their i-frames, the damage wouldn't go through
